Latest Celebrations of the Word

Ep33: Pentecost

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came down and filled the disciples of Jesus. Fr Emmanuel gives a beautiful reflection on the power of the Holy Spirit and how we too can be filled with, as his nephew puts it, "The blow of God." We say the 'Come Holy Spirit' prayer together and ask for our hearts to be filled. We then move into a time of worship as we join Angel and sing 'Holy Spirit.'

Reading: Acts 2:1-11

Song: Holy Spirit

Ep32: Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come invites children to pray for a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We hear in the Gospel how forty days after Easter Sunday, Jesus ascended back to his throne in heaven. Greg helps us understand the amazing mission Jesus gave to his friends and how we are invited into it too. We also hear how Jesus will send another Advocate, the Holy Spirit to help his followers spread the Good News everywhere. We then pray together for the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts and souls and worship with the song 'The Lord's Prayer.'

Gospel: Mark 16:15-20

Song: The Lord's Prayer

Ep31: Our Lady Queen of May

May is the Month of Our Lady and we honour her in this celebration of the Word. We listen to the Gospel account of Mary visiting her cousin Elizabeth and speak the words of the Magnificat. Greg helps us to understand why Mary is so special and guides us in a prayer to her. We then sing to Mary with Fr Columba as he sings 'As I Kneel Before You.'

Gospel: Luke 1:39-55

Song: As I Kneel Before You

Ep30: I Am the Vine

In today's celebration of the Word, we continue the Season of Easter and hear a parable from Jesus. He says "I am the vine you are the branches." Fr Emmanuel is back with a wonderful reflection to help us enter into the beauty of Jesus's words and consider what he invites us to do. We then still ourselves in prayer and conclude in worship with the action song 'He is the Vine.'

Gospel: John 15:1-8

Song: He is the Vine (Action Song)

Ep29: The Good Shepherd

Jesus said "I am the good shepherd." In our Good Shepherd celebration we hear the beautiful words of Jesus from John's Gospel, chapter 10. Greg reflects upon how, if he had only one minute to tell people about Jesus, he'd introduce them to the Good Shepherd. We move into a time of listening to the Good Shepherd's voice and say the words of Psalm 23 together. Angel leads us with a contemporary version of 'The Lord is My Shepherd.'

Gospel: John 10:11-18

Song: The Lord is My Shepherd (Hallelujah)

Ep28: Peace Be With You

The tomb is empty and Jesus has been seen alive, but his friends still doubt. Then Jesus steps into the room where they are hiding and says “Peace be with you!” In this Easter celebration of the Word, we enter the upper room with Jesus. Fr Emmanuel gives a beautiful reflection and invites us to receive the peace of Jesus. We then rest in the Lord’s peace as we pray and sing ‘Servant King’ together. We chose that one because it says “come see his hands and his feet.”

Gospel: Luke 24:35-48

Song: Servant King

Ep27: Jesus Has Risen!

On the first day of the week, three of Jesus's friends went to the tomb with the spices they had prepared. There, they found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. They looked inside…but Jesus was not there, he had risen.

We are so excited to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus at Easter! We share Mark's account of the first Easter and Greg reflects upon this moment which changed the world forever. We then pray together and worship the Risen Jesus with Fr Columba.

Gospel: Mark 16:1-8

Song: Christ is Risen
